With Christmas fast approaching watch out for this computer virus.

The newest virus circulating is the UPS Delivery Failure.

You will receive an email from UPS Packet Service along with a packet
number.  NOTE:  The word packet is misspelled on this line.  It will
say that they were unable to deliver a package sent to you on such and
such a date.  It then asks you to print out the invoice copy attached.

DON’T TRY TO PRINT THIS.  IT LAUNCHES THE VIRUS!

Pass this warning on to all your PC operators at work and home.  This
virus has caused Millions of dollars in damage in the past few days.

Snopes confirms that it is real:

  • Night Sky Update…

Here is just a quick update on some fall astronomy happenings!  The night viewing has been great here… the skies have been clear and the air has been crisp!  Perfect for hot cocoa and few minutes in the lawn chair staring in awe at God’s amazing creation!
    Enjoy, Bee

EVENING PLANETS: When the sun goes down tonight, step outside and look
southwest. The two brightest planets, Venus and Jupiter, are shining
through the twilight side by side. You’ll want to keep an eye on these
two because they are drawing noticeably closer together every night.

Venus and Jupiter are converging on a patch of sky in Sagittarius where
they will have a spectacular double-conjunction with the Moon at the
    end of the month.
Don’t wait until then, though. Visit
http://spaceweather.com for sky maps and start watching now.

LEONID METEOR WATCH:  The Leonid meteor shower peaks this year on Nov.
17th and 18th.  Bright moonlight will probably spoil the show, but not
necessarily.  Researchers who study Comet 55P/Tempel-Tuttle, the source
of the Leonids, say Earth is going to pass through one or two of the
comet’s dusty filaments.  Peak rates of 20 to 100 meteors per hour are
possible during the early hours of Nov. 17th and again during the
waning hours of Nov. 18th.  These times favor sky watchers in Europe,
Africa, and Asia.  Smaller numbers of Leonids could appear between the
anticipated peak times. Meteor enthusiasts everywhere should monitor
the sky on Nov. 17th and 18th; the hours before local dawn are usually
    best.

  • SPAM for Dinner?

This is the first time I have heard about the growing popularity of
Spam!  I remember eating this stuff as a kid… along with other
various and sundry nasty canned things like … “potted meat”canned salmon made into croquetscorned beef hash… and
who could forget … vienna sausages

You know I think if times get really bad… I’ll just go fishing.. or shoot some food before I eat that stuff… BLECH!

Well… I spoke too soon.. hubby said maybe we should get some just for
emergencies since it keeps forever and never goes bad.  Rats! I guess I
need to look at spam recipes now….

“Through war and recession, Americans have turned to the glistening
canned product from Hormel as a way to save money while still putting
something that resembles meat on the table. Now, in a sign of the
times, it is happening again, and Hormel is cranking out as much Spam
    as its workers can produce.

In a factory that abuts Interstate 90, two shifts of workers have been
making Spam seven days a week since July, and they have been told that
the relentless work schedule will continue indefinitely.

Hormel declined to cooperate with this article, but several of its
workers were interviewed here recently with the help of their union,
the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union Local 9.
Slumped in chairs at the union hall after making 149,950 cans of Spam
on the day shift, several workers said they been through boom times
before — but nothing like this.

Spam “seems to do well when hard times hit,” said Dan Bartel, business
agent for the union local. “We’ll probably see Spam lines instead of
    soup lines.”

Even as consumers are cutting back on all sorts of goods, Spam is among
a select group of thrifty grocery items that are selling steadily.

Pancake mixes and instant potatoes are booming. So are vitamins, fruit
and vegetable preservatives and beer, according to data from October
compiled by Information Resources, a market research firm.

“We’ve seen a double-digit increase in the sale of rice and beans,”
said Teena Massingill, spokeswoman for the Safeway grocery chain, in an
e-mail message. “They’re real belly fillers.”

Kraft Foods said recently that some of its value-oriented products like
macaroni and cheese, Jell-O and Kool-Aid
    were experiencing robust
growth. And sales are still growing, if not booming, for Velveeta, a
Kraft product that bears the same passing resemblance to cheese as Spam
    bears to ham.

Spam holds a special place in America’s culinary history, both as a source of humor and of cheap protein during hard times.

Invented during the Great Depression by Jay Hormel, the son of the
company’s founder, Spam is a combination of ham, pork, sugar, salt,
water, potato starch and a “hint” of sodium nitrate “to help Spam keep
its gorgeous pink color,” according to Hormel’s Web site for the
    product.

Because it is vacuum-sealed in a can and does not require
refrigeration, Spam can last for years. Hormel says “it’s like meat
    with a pause button.”

During World War II, Spam became a staple for Allied troops overseas.
They introduced it to local residents, and it remains popular in many
parts of the world where the troops were stationed.”

  • What if……..

Wow… I tell ya…. I was just thinking this afternoon what if the man below in this “You Tube” would have been elected the Illinois senator in 2004 instead of Obama… (he did debate and run against Obama you know!)  If…… he had won that seat…. and then If he had gone on to become our first African American President…. I would have been thrilled!  This man knows the constitution  and would have been able to truly uphold it like the President swears to do when he places his hand on the Bible… And as far as his intelligence, eloquence and just common sense, none of the other candidates could hold a candle to this guy. (I liked Huckabee and voted for him in the primaries cause I thought he might have a chance,  but truthfully Keyes has  a “statesman”  type of verbal gifting that is unmatched.)

Sigh……. he didn’t even make a blip on the political radar screen.

The You Tube below was done during the Ten Commandments monument debate a couple years ago.  (Listen to his in-depth understanding of the constitution!) I am also going to include a link to another video concerning his standing on the Second Amendment for good measure.

Listen to this and enjoy some “political sanity” for a change…… and pray that as we “remake and reform” the conservative movement that the Lord would see fit to include Alan Keyes and men like him.

  • The Day After

Here is an excellent “Breakpoint” commentary from Chuck Colson!

    Soberly, Bee

    The Day After

Pray for Our President and Our Nation

    Chuck Colson

    November 5, 2008

“Whether you voted for Barack Obama or John McCain, whether you’re
recovering from your all-night celebration or drying the tears from
your pillow, today’s a good day to remember the words of the apostle
Paul: “I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession
and thanksgiving be made for everyone— for kings and all those in
authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness
    and holiness” (1 Timothy 2:1-3).

And the new President will surely need our prayers because he and his
administration face huge, serious challenges to the health of our
nation and to peace in the world—challenges that, in my opinion,
neither he nor any government on earth will have the power to overcome
    without divine aid.

How has America come to this point? Why is our economy on the brink of disaster? Why is our culture so utterly depraved?

I can only think of what Alexandr Solzhenitsyn said about the
catastrophic consequences of the Russian revolution. “I recall,” he
said, “hearing a number of older people offer the following explanation
for the great disasters that had befallen Russia: Men have forgotten
God; that’s why all this has happened.”

Solzhenitsyn was right. Indeed, I can’t find any better explanation for
why we Americans find ourselves in the state we are in. We have
    forgotten God.

We have also forgotten that American democracy—indeed Western
Civilization itself—is the product of the Judeo-Christian understanding
of God and humanity. Without that revelation that man is created in the
image of God, our founders never would have recognized the unalienable
rights to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. Indeed, as I and
others like Rodney Stark have argued, modern science and education,
liberal democracy, capitalism flourished in Western civilization
precisely because of the Judeo-Christian worldview.

The attacks on Christianity these days are only going to intensify in
the months ahead. But we must press on all the more to make a winsome
witness. Those who would banish Christianity from American life are
risking the very survival of American society.

Friends have asked me whether this economic crisis is God’s judgment upon us. I don’t know.

As I’ve re-read the Old Testament prophets recently, I couldn’t help
but notice the recurring theme: The people of God turned away from Him
and worshipped false idols. The result was always disaster.

Is God responsible for credit markets collapsing around the world? No.
We’re responsible. Because instead of worshiping God, we’ve worshipped
false idols of the marketplace, credit card companies and cheap
mortgages. We’ve put our own appetites over our duties to God and
    neighbor.

So this is no time for Christians to go into the bunkers. No time to
wail or moan over our retirement plans. This is a time to repent, to
pray more, to give more. It’s a time for Christians to lead, encourage,
and minister to a faltering country in a faltering economy.

This is a time for the Church to get serious about Christian discipleship. Enough cheap grace.

So pray for the new President and his administration. But most of all,
my brothers and sisters, this is a time to love our neighbors and to
hunger for God and His righteousness.”

  • Xanga Day of Prayer and Fasting

(reposted from my xanga friend “Books For Me”.)

You may all ready be participating in a prayer and/or fasting “event,” but this is a little different.  I’d like to call on all Xangans to make Monday, November 3, 2008 a Day of Fasting from Xanga
and Prayer.  From sun-up to sun-down, instead of the time you would be
spending on Xanga, instead of following that urge to check your subs or
share that thought or link, let’s give that time to praying for our
    nation.

No matter who you are voting for, we all agree our
nation needs help.  We all agree the answer really can only really be
found in One Person, Jesus Christ.  More than anything, we need to
repent on behalf of our nation and pray for God’s mercy.  I know we can
    agree on that!

If my people, who are called by my name, will humble
themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways,
then will I hear from heaven and will forgive their sin and will heal
    their land.
    2 Chronicles 7:14

  • Gleam of Dawn

More and more as this world grows darker the righteous will shine brighter in contrast… and more and more our cry will become COME LORD JESUS!  He is our only true blessed hope! Let us encourage one another in the hope of the glorious appearing of our Lord and Savior!

    From Pastor Roy……

“Looking in the right direction makes all the difference in the world.
God’s kids have the choice of looking back at the growing darkness
that’s flooding our world with gloom and doom or looking up and seeing
the spreading rays of the coming Son. The world around us is not only
facing the cold dark blast of a collapsing economy, but far more
frightening, fear of a life and world out of control.

For those of us who know the unbreakable promises of the ever living
Son, we know that His coming back for those who love and obey Him could
happen yet this week. The radiance of God’s eternal Son and our loving
judge will forever blot out the darkness and will fill our eternity
with light so bright that no shadow of fear will ever creep back into
our lives and work. Alas, those who have chosen to create their own
light based on the lies of our dark enemy can only look forward to the
empty hope that what they wanted and what they chose to give their
lives meaning will somehow go their way.

May our eyes be ever turned toward the eternal dawn that makes all the challenges of the darkness more than worth while.”
    Pastor Roy
