  • The Day of Atonement, (Yom Kippur)

Tomorrow.. Sunday is what is known as “The Day of Atonement”. It is one of the Jewish Fall Feasts.  It begins with a fast and it is a very somber day of soul-searching and repentance.

I think it is rather interesting that when Yom Kippur begins in Jerusalem at sunset tomorrow, 5:30pm Jerusalem time…. many of us will be in church, (or getting ready for church) as it will be 9:30am (central time) that this holy day begins.

As a “refresher”… here is a chart of the feasts and the possible prophetic fulfillments.  Some people disagree how and if these fall feasts will be fulfilled in this manner… but it would seem to me if the spring ones were fulfilled “to the day” by Christ, then these fall feasts must enter into the picture somewhere!

  • Okay, but you have Christ’s work on the cross AFTER His crucifixion. Wouldn’t His crucifixion BE the work on the cross? If we’re looking at chronological events, this is out of place at worst, redundant at best. Unleavened literally means ‘without life’. I know that other scripture uses leaven to symbolize sin… this also works, but NOT while He’s on the cross – He had so much sin on Him at that point that Yahweh had to turn away. So it still doesn’t fit as ‘work’ on the cross for Unleavened.

  • @Anna -

Hmm, maybe “work on the cross” is not a good way to put it…..It was more the “result” of the work on the cross. It was during Unleavened Bread that he was “buried”… perhaps at this point visiting those “prisoners in the prison house” (comforted side of sheol?) and “leading captivity captive.” (somewhere in the Pslms or Is.)
