  • Ark of the Covenant Unveiled?

Now… this little news blurb was interesting!!  Especially in light of the fact that the Ethiopians believe that they will present the Ark of the Covenant to the Messiah when He comes to reign on the Temple Mount.  Some use the passage in Isaiah 18:7 to confirm that.  I am not sure what to think about it… but I guess time will tell!

“The patriarch of the Orthodox Church of Ethiopia says he will announce
to the world Friday the unveiling of the Ark of the Covenant, perhaps
the world’s most prized archaeological and spiritual artifact, which he
says has been hidden away in a church in his country for millennia,
according to the Italian news agency Adnkronos.

    Abuna Pauolos,
in Italy for a meeting with Pope Benedict XVI this week, told the news
agency, “Soon the world will be able to admire the Ark of the Covenant
described in the Bible as the container of the tablets of the law that
God delivered to Moses and the center of searches and studies for
    centuries.”

The announcement is expected to be made at 2 p.m.
Italian time from the Hotel Aldrovandi in Rome. Pauolos will reportedly
be accompanied by Prince Aklile Berhan Makonnen Haile Sellassie and
    Duke Amedeo D’Acosta.”

  • **shiver, shiver** *getting out my Bible and looking up Revelation again*

  • I’ve been aware of the ark which is supposed to be there for a few years now. The story could have merit, but I have my doubts.

If it were the real ark they’d never hand it over to a museum and if they have the real ark, what they hand over to a museum won’t be the real one. That’s my 2 cents.

I also wonder about how long acacia wood would actually last.. even if it was overlaid with gold. I mean the thing would be so fragile, I don’t think it could be moved at all! Interesting stuff, especially the Pope meeting.
