Illegal historical flag!
Oh brother… of all of the truly offensive things I see on cars and
t-shirts… a historical replica is NOT one of them! Somebody needs to
get some common sense!!! Good grief! Has everyone gone insane!!???

(Excerpts from the news article below)“A Louisiana driver was stopped and detained for having a “Don’t Tread
on Me” bumper sticker on his vehicle and warned by a police officer
about the “subversive” message it sent, according to the driver’s
relative.
The situation developed in the small town of Ball, La., where a
receptionist at the police department told WND she knew nothing about
the traffic stop, during which the “suspect” was investigated for
“extremist” activities, the relative said.
It followed by only a few weeks the release of a Department of Homeland
Security report, “Right-wing Extremism: Current Economic and Political
Climate Fueling Resurgence in Radicalization and Recruitment”, which
prompted outrage from legislators and a campaign calling for the
resignation of DHS Secretary Janet Napolitano.
The report, which cites individuals who sport certain bumper stickers
on their vehicles as suspect, was delivered to tens of thousands of
local law enforcement officers across the nation….
According to the relative, it happened this way: Her brother-in-law was
driving home from work through the town, which has a local reputation
for enhancing its budget by ticketing speeders. He was pulled over by
police officers who told him “he had a subversive survivalist bumper
sticker on his car.”
“They proceeded to keep him there on the side of the road while they
ran whatever they do to see if you have a record, keeping him standing
by the side of the road for 30 minutes,” she told WND.
Finding no record and no reason to keep him, they warned him and eventually let him go, she said. “Here is possibly the original (or an old relica) of the flag

Hm…so, can we bring back the stars-and-bars?

Sure… why not? It is an item of historical importance. I know there are those who have “hijacked” all kinds of symbols from the rainbow to just about everything you can imagine! Just because some “group” has claimed something as a symbol doesn’t make that item evil…. their ideology may be screwed up but for pete’s sake we have got to have some reasonable common sense here! This political correctness has just gone way overboard!
In the case of the “tread on me” bumper sticker even the ideology is not bad … they are simply saying “I don’t want to be taxed out of existence without representation.” What the heck is wrong with that? And as far as survivalism… hey it is not a bad idea to be self sufficient in these times, even the Dept of Homeland Security has these public service ads running about how you should have at least 3 days of food for your family in the pantry… I don’t get why they would be upset about that one! It just doesn’t seem fair… they don’t arrest these kids that have pot leaf symbols on their cars or the skulls with snakes crawling out the mouths or any other such goofy things! Sorry for ranting at you.. but this bugs the heck outta me! :-p Bee
